Still beautiful after all these years.....

These are some of my favorite old family pictures, I just love them, they range between anywhere from 50-100 years old I think, give or take a year, but they're still so amazing and beautiful. There's emotion, poise and heart in each of these pictures that I think transcends time, I am willing to wager that my grandchildren will be able to look at these pictures and still be drawn to their warmth and charm.

These pictures represent what I want for my own photography. I want to take pictures that will be looked back on in 100 years and thought of as beautiful still, warm and charming even if they're faded and worn. I want to make memories from pictures, I want them to be lasting and timeless and full of obvious heart and emotion.

I've said it before, but I think of photographs as time machines, they're able to transport us back to a specific date or event with a single look, and if the photographer got it just right, something about that photo will have captured the tone and emotion of the moment so well that you can feel it again for an instant. How wonderful would that be?

These pictures make me happy and give me something to strive for. I want to take pictures for me and for my clients that will some day bring us back to these moments and make us really feel them again! The bar has been raised, time to grab my camera and get practicing!

My sisters first Mothers Day!

Yesterday was my younger sisters very first Mother's Day and to commemorate it we took some pictures, well, a lot of pictures of her sweet little boy who's nearly seven months old! The results were insanely adorable, too cute for words and just plain precious! That nephew of mine is darn near angelic, he's beautiful and thankfully, he's a ham for the camera too! I got some incredibly "awww" inspiring pictures of him in the buff, but because my sister is (rightfully) weary of sharing too much on the internet, so you won't be seeing those here, but if you know her, ask her to see them, they're really, really cute!

But, here's what I can share with you! Stunning blue eyes, darling expressions and a little baby boy who's growing so darn fast!

Angelic right? He looks so innocent, you wouldn't know by looking at him that he peed, pooped and puked all over my nice white background paper right? No worries, it was just a practice background anyway, I'll be getting new ones in the near future, and it was worth a few little stains to get such good pictures, I'd do it again anyway little guy, any day, just tell your mom to pack the diaper bag and come on over!

You're a lucky woman Carrie....

My friend Carrie generously lends me her children for photo shoots practically whenever I desire, its wonderful! Carrie's kids are not only cute, but they're cooperative too! I feel quite lucky to have her living so near by, for play dates that evolve into photo shoots, but she's the real lucky one, because she has some seriously wonderful and precious children!

I have so many ideas in mind for future photo shoots, er, I mean play dates with Carrie and her kids ;)

A Little Background Information...

Don't worry, I'm not going to bore you my rambling on and on about MY background, or any facts for that matter, BUT, I must tell you, I got a new background stand for my seamless paper backgrounds, I am in LOVE! Its amazing how much a nice, smooth, uniform background can enhance a photo and really make the subject pop. I got he urge today to set it up and test it out, so I grabbed the two models nearest to me, my kids, and made them endure yet another photo shoot, and I am really liking the photo's that we got! In fact, I printed them up for my mother, my mother in law, my gramma's, my sisters, and last but not least, my living room wall!

Swing into Spring!

These photos were taken on two different days, they're of my daughter enjoying some of our recent spring time weather (and its about time). I'm amazed at the pure joy you can see on her face, she's having the time of her life on just a simple swing, three year olds really know how to enjoy the small things in life don't they? The last two pictures are of her on a teeter totter, another one of life's simple pleasures!

Three (Little) Men and a Little Lady!

This past weekend I had the chance to take pictures of four beautiful children! This family already had three very handsome sons and recently welcomed a baby girl into the mix! All four children were great to shoot and we got some really beautiful pictures, I am so pleased! Here are just a few of the gorgeous shots we got that day:

She's just Tutu cute!

This little sweetheart was so fun to shoot! With gorgeous red hair and bright blue eyes, I knew her pictures would be beautiful! I just love this shot, babies just don't love the tutu, no matter how cute they look in it, they just don't care ;) But, the truth is, crying or not, she still looks adorable!
